Work spaces and Creative spaces

Hey Passionista!

I don’t know about you but I’m sick of working from home- in my home. Let me explain!

I have been full time entrepreneur, running a business from the comfort of my home for over a year now. As a creative entrepreneur my work allows me to be out of the house for most of my projects. Pre-pandemic a typical day for me was working a few hours at a coffee shop, on-site meeting with clients, running errands and shopping for events. Since March I’ve mostly been in the house. At first it was cool then Summer came around and things start to feel different for me. I just want to go to my favorite coffee shop, pick a nice spot by the window and bust out some work for a couple of hours of my day. Now I’m having to be extremely creative about how and where I work.

Since outside has opened back up a little bit, I now get the opportunity to take onsite meetings again. But my admin day to day tasks are still being done from my home. It’s annoying sitting the house all day- in the same spot. So this week I tried to get a little creative with my work space for a day. I decided to work outside at the Botanical Gardens (in Athens, GA). I took my notebook, laptop and book to the garden to quietly get some work done and soak up the cool breeze and sunlight. Now I’m not normally a outdoor person but it felt good to work outside for a few hours.

I even had time sit on a bench a read a few pages from the book HER by Pierre Jeanty.

Now I’m on a quest to find even more creative spaces that will get me out of the house to do some work. Hopefully this seasonal weather will allow me to explore more outdoor places.

Before you go, share with me other outdoor places you go to work, relax, or read a book.

5 Helpful Work from Home Tips

Hey Passionista!

I don’t know about you but I’m on week 4 of working from home and quarantining. And I’m so over it. I just want to get all dressed up and go to brunch with my girls and do ratchet stuff like I used too. Even though I’m a full time entrepreneur I’ve had to adjust to not leaving the house everyday. Luckily, my business allows me hands on experiences so I may “work from home” but I’m normally never home.

I guess I can appreciate the downtime that quarantine is focusing me into. But I struggled in the beginning to simply stay home and be productive each day. So here are 5 helpful tips for anyone working from home during this time.

#1 The culture go your working environment is important. Don’t let the culture of your home effect your work ethic.

#2 Set up a work space. Even if you don’t have a home office, create one. Rather it be your kitchen table, in the living room or your bedroom have a place you can go to work.

#3 Stick to a routine. Make a schedule for work with a start time, lunch time, break times, and most importantly work end time.

#4 Hold yourself and your team accountable.

#5 Make it fun!

Most importantly, stay home and stay safe.
