Embrace Your Beauty

Hello Passionistas!

I recently found out Walmart offered a seasonal beauty box. And it’s only $5.00… so you know I had to sign up. I am a product junkie!!!! I love trying different brands and trendy beauty items.  I shop at Target and Kroger over Walmart, but a beauty box just may win me back over as a customer. Although! I hear Target has a beauty box as well, but its not a subscription service, you have to buy it online each month. So I’m not interested!

But back to what we are hear for…. The Spring WalMart Beauty Box!

This month box is filled with …

Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair with Liquid Keratin Ultra Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. I have never used this product before, honestly I’m not sure if its for black girl hair. But I’ll willing to try it since wash day is coming up. I mean if I don’t like it I can just rewash my hair. The packaging says it for dry to stressed hair, my hair is not stressed but can be a little dry at times. So I’m going to give it a shot.

I’ve never tried any of the Biores products before, but this seasons box has the Biore’ Baking Soda Acne Scrub in it. So I think I am going to try it. I love the fact that it has baking soda in it. I don’t have acne issues but I think it will be cool to try whenever I fill a pimple coming on.

I have used the Dove advanced care cool essentials deodorant before. I liked it. I don’t particularly like Dove body wash but I do buy the deodorant from time to time. I’m not loyal to a particular brand or scent deodorant, as long as it gets the job done, I’m cool.

I’ve been wanting to try the Colgate Radiant White, but I can never catch it on sale. So I will be used every bit of the sample.

I’m not big on face oils because I sweat a lot, I have tried one before. I was not in love with it so I never repurchased it. But I am open to trying the Coconut Oil Luminous Hydration Facial Oil. I think it would be best for before putting on my make-up or after taking off my make-up and cleansing my face.

Lastly, I am looking forward to trying the John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Moisturizing Conditioner. Again I’m not sure if this brand is for black girl hair but if it helps with frizz, I’m willing to try. So the next time I straighten my hair, I’m going to try this product.

Sunday is Hair Day !!!

Good Day Passionistas! Sunday is hair day, so today I wanted to share with you my current wash day routine. I have been natural for about 5 years, and try to make it a habit to wash my hair every week. Depending on the style I wear my hair will I skip a week . Today I will be using the following products: Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Haor Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave in Conditioner repair cream, Hask Keratin protein deep conditioning mask and hair oil, and lotta body styling foam.

I start by washing rinsing my dirty hair with warm water, then applying the Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Conditioner. That’s right! I condition my hair first. There is not no specific reason why I do it. I just dont see the point of user a conditioner to wash out then applying a deep conditioning mask. So to hydrate my freshly rinsed hair, I use conditioner first. After washing out the conditioner, I then shampoo the roots of my hair making use I massage the shampoo throughout my entire hair. Then I rinse out all the shampoo, at this step be sure to rinse out all shampoo. Once all the shampoo is rinsed out of my hair, I like to use a cottong t-shirt to pat my hair dry and apply the Hask deep conditioning mask. I use a healthy amount of this product and let it sit on my hair for at least an hour. After letting the product sit, I rinse it all out with cold water and apply a small amount of leave in conditioner repair cream.

This week I will be using my flexible rods to curl my hair while it is wet. To complete this style I comb out and section my hair in four parts and work on rodding one section at a time. Most people like to sit under the hair dryer, but I try to do away with applying heat to my hair, so I let the rods sit overnight to air dry. Yes, the rods can be a little uncomfortable to sleep in, but they look good in the morning. In the morning I take out rod one by rod and separte the curls with my hands. I use a dime sized amount of the Hask hair oil to add shine to my curls. This style is easy to accomplish and usual last me up to 4 to five days before recurling.

Hair Wash Routine

Well Hello There!

Today I want to share with you my hair care routine. I have a head full of natural, thick, but tamable hair. I usually keep it braided up, because I don’t like to have to do my hair. Sew-ins are good too but that call for maintenance, which takes time and time is something that I don’t have. So this past month I have been braid free and dealing with the maintenance process. I’ve watched so many YouTube videos on natural hair, but of course my hair never turns out the way I want it.

So my new routine is to wash my hair every two weeks. This is a challenge for me, due to the fact I liked to wash my hair daily.  But I have come to realize daily shampooing is not healthy for your hair. So I have challenged myself to a twice a month wash and cleanse. When washing my hair, I am not picky about the shampoo and conditioners I use. But a recent Essence magazine ad inspired me to purchase Carol’s Daughter products. I have always heard about the product but never bought until now. I have been using the Sacred Tiare Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave-in conditioners.

THE PRE WASH PROCESS- My hair gets dry easily, so to make sure I keep it moisturized. Before washing my hair I like to oil it down really good, I used Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (from Trader Joe’s). If time allows me I like to do this the night before so that my hair has time to soak up all the oil, or at least let it sit for an hour.

THE WASH PROECESS- During the wash process, I like to condition my hair first. Then clean my scalp after washing out the conditioner. When shampooing my hair, I target my scalp only, as the shampoo rinses off my hair is will clean through it. At this point I like to ring out all extra water and dry my hair with a 100% cotton t-shirt. That’s right I use a t-shirt, I feel that it makes my hair feel a lot better than using a towel- no matter how soft the towel maybe. At this point my hair is PRODUCT FREE. This is when I like to put in it four sections and finger comb from the roots to the ends of my hair, also applying a hair mask. I allow the hair mask to sit in hair for 30 minutes to an hour with a hair cap on top. When washing out the mask I like to use cold hair, and pat drying my hair again with a cotton t-shirt after. Once again my hair is PRODUCT FREE allowing the detangling process to began.

POST WASH PROCESS- I like to section my hair in four parts again, using the leave in condition and a paddle brush to detangle each section. If I am styling my hair with hear, I definitely use a heat protector. If I am style my hair while its wet, I like to moisturize it first.

I encourage you to try this hair care routine, I love and I think you would too. Be sure to share you shampoo experience in the comments below or by e-mail at kznuriddin@gmail.com
