I have a prayer journal, manifestation journey, and a journal for my thoughts and ideas. But sometimes I find myself writing down my thoughts and affirmations on random slips of paper that I find laying around. I think it has become a form coping for me. And there’s no greater feeling than finding a old slip of paper or journal from years ago, re-reading it and seeing the growth, change, and answered prayer in your life.
I recently started a prayer box for my conversations with God. Today, I’m going to share with you how to make your own.
Materials you will need: A wooden or tin box, spray paint, stickers or vinyl design cuts, makers, and note cards.
I used a circular tin I picked for a dollar at Micheals during the after Christmas sale. I didn’t like the colors of it so I decided to paint it.
STEP 1: Paint the outside of your box any color you’d like.
Then, I used my Cricut Explorer Air 2 to cut out some crosses and saying to add to the outside of my box. If you don’t have a cricut machine you can just use stickers, markers, or paint.
STEP 2: Decorate the outside of you Prayer Box and Lid.
Next, I decided to write my favorite scripture inside the lid of the prayer box.
STEP 3: Write your favorite scriptures and affirmations inside of the prayer box, for your eyes only.
STEP 4: Add a pin and notecards inside.
STEP 5: Begin writing down your prayers.
I pray that this prayer box brings to closer to God and help you see the growth and change he is making in your life. I’d love to see how your prayer box designs turn out, post a picture on instagram and use #passionxDIY to share yours with me.
Valentine’s Day is tomorrow! If you haven’t planned anything for you and your boo, don’t worry I have a few date night ideas that you’re sure to enjoy.
#1 Dinner and a Silent Movie
Spend some time in the kitchen with your boo cooking y’all’s favorite meal. Then pick a movie neither one of you have seen and watching it on mute as you have dinner. See what type of conversation you spark from watching a silent movie.
#2 Late Night Snacks Under the Stars
Grab you’re favorite snacks and some blankets and pillows, go outside to a stary around after dark and spend some quality time under the stars.
#3 At-Home Sip N’ Paint
You can find a instructed painting tutorial on YouTube, guided just like the Sip N’ Paint experience. Just purchase your canvas, acrylic paint, and brushes. If you and your boo are advanced in the craft department, try painting Portraits of each other.
Tip: Shop in Five Below for your supplies. I found a 2 pack of 8in x 10in canvas for $4 and a paint brush set for $5. They have table easels as well.
Before you go enjoy these Valentine’s pictures I took at this beautiful magically place I found called The Tree Room in Athens, GA.

Hello Passionista ✨
I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since I publish my very first blog post. I’m so grateful that I’ve been blessed with the creative ability to share my passions with Passionista’s all over the world. Looking back on my journey I wish I would have started blogging a lot earlier.
Once upon a time, I was very fearful of being talked about and picked on. I used to let the words that people say to me get under my skin and alter who I was as a person. You could have called me a people pleaser. Looking back on my teenage years and college life I missed out on a lot of things because of fear. I feared what the social response would be from my peers, friends, and family members. I thought I had to do what was deeded socially correct all the time. Which caused me to stuff my big personality into a box, and not authentically be me.
But the person I have become today doesn’t give a damn about what anyone has to say about Khadijah. I have learned to be comfortable being me. I’m wild, passionate, somethings loud and different from others. Those were all things that I used to hide and be ashamed of. But I had to find the strength within me to get pass my fear and be my best self.
What did it take?
Honestly, I don’t know where this strength came from. I noticed that I was always unhappy, never satisfy with anything. I began to dwell on that. I came to the conclusion that I’m wasn’t living my life to my fullest potential by not allowing my light to shine as bright as my personality. Through my faith I had to find a way to be comfortable being me. It’s always going to take work because I’m a work in progress. I still struggle with some anxiety around what people will say about me. At the end of the day, I only have one life to live. It’s up to me to live my best live everyday. I truly believe that, faith over fear brings blessings. So, everyday I strive to embraced every part of who I am and strive to be better then next day.

Wash day is my favorite day of the week. I love the process of washing my hair. It’s just something about cleaning my hair and refreshing my curls that makes me all happy inside. I have my go to favorites for shampooing, conditioning, and deep conditioning, but I like to try new product from time to time.
I recently received a bottle of Carol’s Daughter latest natural hair product, the Wash Day Delight Water-to-Foam Shampoo. This shampoos contains Aloe and is free of sulfates, parabens, silicones, and artificial colors. It is a liquid formula that provide easy access to the scalp. I love how the product is packaged. The bottle has a twist up and down cap that allows you to open and close the spout for the product to easily flow from the bottle to your scalp. When washing my hair I like to focus on cleaning my scalp and let the conditioners work its magic on the ends. So this is the prefect solution for my wash day routine. I did notice that this shampoo stripped my hair. I don’t mind a stripping shampoo, because I deep condition after every wash. But I understand why some people dislike stripping shampoos (depending on the texture of your curls). I feel like the water to foam formula really put the sassy back in my curls. After shampooing with this formula and doing my deep conditioning process I decided to do a wash n’ go style. My curls felt really hydrated, look fluffy and lasted longer than they ever have before.
Watch how I used this shampoo for the first time…
I’ve used this shampoo twice and I still have half of a 16.9 floz bottle left. So I would say I think I’m going to get 4 to 5 good washes out of this bottle before I’ll need to head out to the store to purchase my next bottle. If you wash your hair once a week like me, I think 4 to 5 usages from a shampoo is a good value.
I received this product complimentary from Influenster, in exchange for my honest review.
Have you ever just needed a at home spa night? Well, I’m about to put you on to something that will change your beauty routines and turn up your self care practices.
Make It Classy delivers plant-based ingredients and step-by-step instructions needed to craft your own chemical-free DIY beauty creations. Think of it like Hello Fresh, except it is a beauty box. The best thing about these kits is that you learn how to make your very own clean beauty products. Most of the kits makes enough product for you to use the product more than once. You also have a recipe card to keep and remake your beauty product over and over again with the purchase of the ingredients needed.
I hosted a spa night for a couples of girlfriends to enjoy. We each picked a Make It Classy kit that we wanted to make. As we sipped on Rose and talked about our week, we made some clean beauty products to care for our skin and hair. We decided to each do a clay mask from the Loyal Leah DIY Kit to deep condition with Rhassoul clay and moisturize our face.
For our spa night we made the following beauty products.
Majestic Maya – DIY Body Scrub. Each kit makes one 8oz body scrub
Loyal Leah – DIY Clay Hair + Face Mask. Each kits makes 1 hair mask or 15+ face masks.
Herbal Ebony – DIY Herbal Hair Rinse. Each kit makes 2 bottles of hair rinse.
I’ve been in love with the Make It Classy brand since I discovered them nearly a year ago. So far, I have made about 4 different kits from the brand. I love their branding and how everything is made to create a simple yet satisfying experience for the user. My favorite kit is the Rose Water toner kit. Rose water is a beauty jewel that I always wanted to try to make myself. But, I was skeptical about using store bought roses to make a beauty product because of all the peptides put on flowers through the manufacturing and distribution process. When I discover Make It Classy and the DIY Lavender Rose Water kit, I knew I would have to try it. Just to my expectation it was simple to make once you have the right ingredients.
How it works
1. Choose your DIY beauty box based on the recipe you’d like to create.
2. Add to cart and checkout
3. You’ll receive your box in the mail along with a recipe card and ingredients to create that DIY beauty product.
Once a year I blow dry my hair and wear wand curls or something of blow dried hair style. So during the entire holiday season I did not wash my hair. I blow dried it maybe a week before Christmas and wore wand curls and flexi rod sets until after the new year. On New Year’s Day I was to excite to wash and deep condition my hair. I’m the happiest when I rock my natural curls!
To condition and style my hair, I used some new products sent to me by Lotus Essentials. Lotus Essentials is a multi-use hair and skincare company that caters to those who want healthier and hydrated hair and skin.
My First Impression
I am big on cute packaging and at first glance I was not impressed with the Lotus Essentials brand packaging. Also, the products were not completely full when I received them. So, at first glance I was not impressed by the presentation and branding. But I was interested in trying the products.
Aloe Conditioner for Hair and Skin Review
The Aloe Conditioner can be used as a deep conditioner or as a co wash. The first time I used the product I used it as a deep conditioner. I can be a little heavy on the product when it comes to applying it to my hair. So I thought I was going to end up using the whole bottle on the first time using it. But I actually only ended up only using about half the bottle. Which was great but later in the week, I used it as a co-wash to remove some product build up and re-twist my hair for refreshed curls. I used less product when co-washing my hair because I only focused on cleaning my scalp. I still have enough product left to do one more co -wash.
Rose Milk Review
The Rose Milk provided my twist out with the bounce back it needed. Before washing my hair was really dry and my end looked harshly brittle from applying heat. So the conditioner and rose milk help restore with moisture. I used the rose milk in place of a curl creme to 2 strand twist my hair. The rose milk made the detangling and twisting process easy. Next wash day I want to try using the rose milk to do my wash n’ go styling.
These products are meant to work on hair and skin. I only tried them on my hair. I have sensitive skin and I don’t know about using them on my face. For this review only reflects my hair wash day experience.
Well, the time has come… the end of the SheaBassador program. I received my last box right before christmas. I’m so grateful I had this opportunity and hope for more great brand ambassador programs with Shea Moisture and other brands this year.
Because this was the last package of the year, they actually sent me 2 boxes. One was this month’s featured products and the other was a gift of random product received in previous packages. So I had the chance to stock up on some of my favorites.
Today, I decided I wanted to pamper myself and have a self care day. This is the first time this year (2020) I have actually did any self care activities. Just my luck, I have some new favorite skincare products this month’s Shea Moisture box to enjoy during my self care day.
What’s in the Box?
Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave- In Conditioner
This is not my favorite leave in conditioner. But I do like that the formula is not to thick and heavy on your hair. I can’t pin point exactly what I don’t like about this conditioner. I just know it make my hair feel a way that I don’t like after washing it out. It’s not a horrible leave in conditioner but just not the one for m
Manuka Honey & Yogurt Skin renewal Recipe Body Yogurt Moisturizer
This body yogurt smells so heavenly to me. I like using it after I shave and exfoliate my skin. I feel like it really helps renew my skin with hella moisture. The formula is thick but not hard to rub in. You don’t need a lot of the product, just apply a little to each part of your body and rub it swiftly. Also, I appreciate the form of packaging this product has, very accessible.
This is the first product I have used with hemp seed oil in it. I love that the formula also contains witch hazel. It doesn’t really have a smell. I wish it had some type of scent to it. It feels very light on the skin and gives me a restored glow.
100% Virgin Coconut Oil Shimmering Body Lotion
I’m not a big fan of body lotion. I prefer body oils or body butters. But I can’t stay away from the 100% virgin coconut oil scent. This product line smells amazing to me. I think this is a summer time body product. But right now I have it sitting on my desk and I used it to moisture my hands after washing them. I love to just inhale the scent after applying this product cause it smells so good.
I received this product 3 times now. The first one was a sample size, then I got a full sized one and now I have another one. Y’all know this is my favorite leave in treatment. I highly recommend this product.
Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Hand & Body Scrub
This is my first time using this body scrub… and baby !!!! it smells sooooo heavenly. I like to use a body scrub in the shower once a week to exfoliate my skin. Today was my first time using it and I scrubbed my body twice. The product not only smells good but it also feels really good on the skin.
Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
This is a great product. But it is hella greasy. Luckily it’s not heavy on the hair, but it’s super greasy. I think the coconut and hibiscus line of hair products are all greasy. And maybe my texture of hair doesn’t hold or need the amount of moisture it provides. I do like my curl results when I use this product, I just don’t like the greasy stains left on my head rest and pillows. LOL
These are some more products that I received in previous boxes:
Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Shampoo
100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion
