Merry Christmas, Passionistas!

It’s Christmas Day!!!!

I must admit blogmas is a struggle. I started off strong but this season had been so busy for me that I miss and day of two.

Last year my family started the tradition of making gingerbread houses on Christmas Eve.

I purchased my Hershey’s kit from CVS for $7.99

I am a master at this …. look 👀

Christmas Party Decor

Happppppyyyyyy Saturday Night!!!!

Tonight, my family and I had a cute little snack and game night.

We played a series of minute to win it games and ate good food. The kids made ginger bread houses.

But I wanted to share the cute little dollar tree decorations I created…

I made these cute little DIY snow globes, everything purchased from the dollar tree.

I found these cute candle stick holders at dollar tree and loved them so much that I bought all that were on the shelf. They came in white but I spray painted a few of them silver for my the base to my snow globe.

Using double sided tape I taped the bottoms of a toy Christmas tree to the candle stick holder. I used a steamless wine glass as the globe- putting just a little bit of white confetti as snow.

So cute quick and easy …

You can also use a wine glass with a steam as a globe with a candle on top.

To complete my table decor, I used Garland and toy gift boxes, mason jars and candles, and candy canes.

Super easy and super cute!!!

Brunch with Friends

Helllloooooo !!!!

I know I’ve been missing for two days of blogmas. I’ve been busy with orders and shopping…🤷🏽‍♀️

But, I’m back now !!!!! 😍

I recently hosted a Christmas PJs Brunch with all my girlfriends. It was super nice! But of course – as the host, I did not get any pictures. What I can say is— we had a good time.

I cooked a really nice brunch. I made lots of mimiosas and we drank lots of mimiosas!

We played “dirty santa” and cards against humanity… so many laughs and memories made…

I did manage to get a few snaps with my polaroid camera for my next scrapbook..

Until next time 💝

Chapter 26

Hello Passionista!

This week I celebrated a birthday and I was more than overjoyed by the love I received. After a weekend of “good times” with my closest friends, I wanted to spend my special day doing something I’ve never done before.

I wanted to climb Stone Mountain …. And I did it !!!!!

I am not the workout type of girl. This idea came to mine because I knew climbing a mountain is out of my comfort zone. I knew it would be a strong challenge. I knew that I had it in me to achieve this challenge. But I also knew that I had it in me to take the easy way out of this challenge.

My journey up the mountain started off silent. But soon turned into lots of doubt, heavy breathing and many rest stops. It took an hour to get half way up the mountain and about another hour for finish. During my many rest stops, I thought about giving up and going back down the mountain to flat ground. I wanted to quit because the mountain was super steep and I was physically uncomfortable. But each time I stood up to walk back down the mountain I saw someone pass me that gave me motivation to keep pushing.

I saw a elderly man with two walking sticks walking like climbing that mountain meant nothing; if he can do it so can I.

I saw a father with his small daughter, maybe 5 years of age- I overheard the little girl say that it was her third time up the mountain; if that little girl had the courage to take on Stone Mountain so can I.

I saw a couple pushing one another to make it to the top- I want to be able to do that with my husband someday; if they can do it so can I.

I saw my father (who has had several back surgeries, but loves to stay fit) conquering that mountain like he was walking on water; if he can keep pushing so can I.

As out of shape as I am, I continued to push myself up that mountain in the Georgia heat. Let me tell you, the second half of the mountain is not friendly at all. I thought I wouldn’t make it several times. But as we reached the top of the mountain, I slick dropped a tear. The breeze felt so good on my sweaty skin. But just to know that it was over, that I made it to the top was such a happy feeling. And the view… the view is simply amazing.

Honestly, I thought I was crazy for even wanting to do it. But I am soooooo glad I did. I proved something to myself. I have always known that I can do anything I sit my mind to do. But the challenge of climbing the mountain was reassurance that nothing can get in my way if I don’t let it.

Happy Birthday to me !!!!!

Schoolin’ Life

Hello Passionistas!

This graduation season has been one for the books, it will forever be an everlasting memory in my heart. After so many late nights and early mornings, I graduated from Ashford University with my M.B.S with a specialization in Project Management.

img_7149

My grad school experience was not what I had planned but everything worked out just fine. I am a hands on type of girl. So I wanted to attend grad school in the classroom, on a campus, where I would be able to interact with my fellow classmates and professors. But in reality, I had to work a full time job to support myself, which didn’t leave much time for classroom dreams. I was able to find a online program that fit my lifestyle perfectly. 18 months, a bunch of long nights and tears later, I received my graduation invitation to walk across the stage.

img_7132
About a week ago, I left the east coast and traveled to the west coast to celebrate my latest accomplishment. The graduation was in San Diego, CA. So I decided to take a couple of days to vacation in Los Angeles with my family and friends.

It was my first time in Cali and I enjoyed very moment of it. I’m not really big on vacations because I am a workaholic. This year I have started a new job, created a new business venture out of my passion, and completed grad school- so a few days to let my hair blow in the wind a bit. You know I couldn’t go to California without going to Disneyland, so go to my IG account (@passionlocked) to see photos from my 1st Disneyland trip.
28ec5eef-b86d-4e1f-aef9-f3f4c7504702-1353-000001edbf6eeb9fBut what makes it even more special is my baby boy, who graduated from high school the day before I received by second degree. I’m super proud and excited for him. His life is just beginning! We are about 7 years apart, so I’ve always thought of him as my baby. He’s all grown up now. As the youngest of the bunch, I know my baby brother and I made our parents proud to see the young women and man we have both become.

In the words of Beyonce, “Time really moves fast, you was just 16.”

Because I am an extra celebratory person, I made my brother take graduation pictures with me, here’s some of them:

Special shouts out to all the 2017 graduates

Mommy and Me By Zii

Hey Passionistas!!!!!

I have something special to share with you all, some spa like goodies I recently feel in love with.

Side Note: I know I have been away for a while. I mean it’s been maybe a month since I last blogged. I have been very busy working on my passion. Hopefully I will have great things to share with you all in the near future.

Anyhow, back to the good stuff.

Mommy and Me By Zii is a homemade craft shop. Zuri is a ol’ friend of mine from High School (small shouts out to Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, GA). She is a mommy and entrepreneur. In fact, she decided to go into business with her beautiful daughter for, “Mother and Daughter crafting together with a purpose.” Together the Mother and Daughter duo makes skin care goodies that are all natural and good for your skin.

Y’all know I love skin care products and love to play with different body products. Of course, I had to support this Mommy and Me business venture. So here is what I got:

img_6731

The Tea Tree & Charcoal Facial Soap bar is really thick, so it will last a long time. It lathers really good. I use it in the mornings after showering, before moisturizing my face.

img_6732

Eucalyptus Mint Ultra Epsom Bath Salt is very soothing in a warm bath with some lavender body oil and a glass of wine.

img_6733I absolutely love the Triple Thick Body Butter. It’s best on my rough skin areas after a shower, like my feet, knees and elbows. I use it mostly at night after my shower, then putting on lotion in the morning before getting dressed.

img_6735

The Cold-Press Soap smells so good. It also lathers really well and feels soft on your hands. I usually buy the liquid soaps from Bath and Body Works for my bathroom. But I wanted to try a homemade soap. It’s so good that my best friend decided it was hers and took it from me after I let her try it. You know how best friends are… they think everything that’s yours is theirs too.

img_6736

I’d never used a charcoal mask before t but I have been interested in trying one. So I also order the Charcoal & Coconut oil Face Mask, it felt so good on my skin. Because of the coconut oil it’s a little watery- which I liked. I rubbed a thin coat on my face before my shower and let the shower water hit my face to gently rinse it off. Amazing Feeling!

It’s a Family Affair

Happy Friday Passionistas!

You all have met my family, right! I mean I shared our holiday photos with you all back in December … Okay, so… now, let me share what we have recently been up too…

Family Pictures 2016

Back in December, my youngest cousin came up with the idea to put together care packages for the sick n’shut in and homeless in our hometown. This was something we could get the entire family involved with. The greatest part of it all was the time we spent together doing it. We all chipped in to collect care package items like hygiene and personal care items, some snacks and note cards for personal messages.

img_5891

To save money I found some small boxes that were about to be thrown out at my job. So we re-assemble and used the boxes to pack the items and wrapped them in leftover wrapping paper from the holidays.

img_5893

A few Saturday’s ago, we all got together at my parents’ house to assemble our care packages. We ended up with a table full of goodies. From deodorant, wash cloths, tooth brushes, tooth paste, hand sanitizer, lotion, soap, Band-Aids, q-tips, lip chap, bottle water, to single packed snacks – and a personalized message of encouragement.

img_5900

We had lots creative ciaos in the mix, but we managed to develop some sort of assemble line to fill the box and get them wrapped.

img_5907

The last and most difficult part was loading them in my grandmother’s car for delivery. This should have been the easiest part. (lol)

img_5910

I love lending a helping hand and doing something special for other whenever I can. I was so elated that this was something the whole family participated with in some way.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you all and your families …

I love the holiday season and spending time with my family. This is our second year taking family photos and I wanted to give yall a snapshot of the photo shoot. This day was filled with big smiles and laughs.

Family is my core. Without them I have no support, motivation, or inspiration. My years on the earth would not be the same without each of there grace and presence in my life. I wish nothing but peace, happiness, and love to my family and all of yours.

I want to send a special shout out to the photographer of the event, Mr. Trey Sims. He was so patient, creative, and fun to work with. Not only did he make me happy, but it made my family happy with these amazing family photos.

My Little Christmas Tree

Hello Friends,

It is my favorite time of year…. The holiday season! It’s just something about this time of year that I am in love with. The holiday cheer, the traditions, and the love in the atmosphere. With everything going on in my life, this time of year I feel most joyous.

Growing up my mother always had a real tree during theChristmas season. We would go to the Christmas tree farm the day after thanksgiving to cut down a tree and spend the weekend decorating it. It would always be a 7ft pine tree with a “big belly” my mother would call it, referencing the round fullness of its bottom. It was a lot of tree to decorate, but it was something we did together as a family. Each year my mom would buy a special ornament for me and my brothers add to the tree that was just for us, “Our little piece of the tree”. Some of them were handmade art project from school and others were collectibles from things we were interested in at the time. My favorite one was a matching Holiday Barbie ornament to the Holiday Barbie Doll Santa left me that Christmas. Actually I think it was the 2000 Holiday Barbie, with the Black and Silver dress and the pink collar. My mother still has those ornaments stored away, and every year she still brings them out to put on the tree. Sadly, we are all older now, so we haven’t added new collectible ornaments to the tree in years.

christmas-tree-2016

This year I decided to buy a real tree and decorate my apartment a little bit. Last year I didn’t decorate because I live alone in a small apartment that I was never at. So what was the point? But this year things are a little different. So I bought a small tabletop pine tree for $19.99 at the local Kroger store and hit up the Dollar Tree for some decorations.

I decided to decorate it with red and gold ornaments with a string of pearls and white flowers to make it unique. The Dollar Tree was the best place to shop for ornaments on a budget. I spent less than $20.00 on lights the pearls and ornaments. I also decided to continue the ornament tradition on my own this year.

ornament-collectionIf you are a PassionLocked subscriber or follow me on social media, you know I love tea. Of course the first of my collection had to be a teapot and its one of my favorite colors… GOLD! The second ornament I found is a glass slipper high heel, because no matter how old I get I will always be a princess in my head. At JoAnn’s Fabric store I found these wooden ornaments. One with my first initial, another with 2016 carved in it and the last one with JOY carved in it. I thought these would be great to cover in glitter and add to my tree. And I will save them for next year and find a few more to add to my little collection

Thank you Mommy for introducing me to such a wonderful holiday tradition. I can’t wait until the season I can share it with a husband and kids of my own. And thank you friends for stopping by my little ol’ blog. I hope you all are enjoying this season as much as I am.

And Hey! This is another thing crossed off my holiday bucket list…

Thanksgiving Cake Made by Me !!!

HAPPY BELATED THANKSGIVING!!!!!

So Thanksgiving was this week and I have enjoyed my time off work relaxing, chilling with family and eating good food. Speaking of good food- Baking a cake from scratch is an item listed on my Holiday Bucket List. So the day before Thanksgiving, I decided to spent my day baking. It literally took all day. I applaud all the bakers in the world, it is alot of work. At first I set out to make a 3 layer red velet cake, 24 red velvet cupcakes and cake pops. High achiever righhoilday-caket! Let’s just say things did not go as planned. I only made one 2 layer red velevt cake. Baking is a lot of work and I wasnt prepared for all of it. After making the batter just right and whipping up the icing as well, I had no motivation to make cupcakes or cake pops.

Overall, I think my cake turned out okay. I use a Ziploc bag to make my top layer icing decor. I’m a real AMATEUR at this baking stuff but at least I tired. My family loved my cake along with the other 2 red velvet cakes at the dinner table made by my cousin that was no competition to mine. My family is so supportive.

I hope you all had a great thanksgiving filled with family, love, and giving! I think it’s about time I go heat up my thanhsgiving leftovers, cut me a slice of the red velvet cake, and watch the Netflix orginal season of Gilmore Girls for the afternoon. TTYL ❤Logo Headline
