Just a southern down to earth girl trying to make my dream come true!
Today is Day 1 of BLOGMAS, and this year I have a lot in store to share. Look forward to a post every throughout December at 8PM. Last year, I only did weekly blogmas posts. So daily blogging is new for mew. Bare with me please!
As you getting older Christmas changes. I remember being a kid wanting to make cookies for santa. Although, I’m not “playing” santa yet. Christmas day has changed for me. Now I’m more excited for the time spent with my family and time off work to relax rather than all the gifts under the tree with my name on it.
I look forward to making gingerbread houses with my family on Christmas Eve and playing Dirty Santa. I am preparing now for all the food I’m going to inhale. I’m so ready to dive into a fresh cut slice of red velvet cake.
My christmas wish is for more peace, love and joy in the world. I always want to promote a peaceful spirit, spread love not war and bring joy to others heart. As much as I practice spreading peace, love and joy I want to receive it too.
So what else does a 20-something young adult want for Christmas, besides bill money:
Last year, I met Tiara through an friend I was planning a event with. On top of her grace and sweet smile, I found her to be very encouraging, inspirational, and resourceful. Since meeting her, we have worked on several projects together and supported each others hustle. I wish I had as much energy and passion as Tiara, but she is always encouraging me to keep pushing, planning, and praying.

Self Care November is almost over, can you believe it? We are entering the last week of the self care challenge. How do you feel?
I have honestly enjoyed the challenge, it has really made me feel good on a day to day basis to know that I’m doing something for my self care each day. Before doing the challenge I had things I did weekly as a self care routine just to relax. And some of the tasks in the challenge I actually do already I just didn’t think of it as self care. With blogging my experience during this self care challenge I’ve also realize how important each of these things are. I am so grateful to have to leisure to actively participant in self care. Not everyone have cook themselves a meal, or meditate, or write a letter, so to be able it is a blessing.
I love going to the spa. I can only afford one maybe two full service spa visits a year, but I love getting facials. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon the Natural Body Spa and Shop opening in Alpharetta on my lunch break. I was curious about the store so I stopped and went in for a lot. As I entered the atmosphere was so peaceful and everyone greeted me with a smile. It felt like a piece of heaven. The spa and shop was newly opened and the staff invited me back for the Grand Opening event.
The grand opening event was extremely fun. I think I was one of the last guest to leave. For the event the Spa and Shop offered a few FREE services. I felt like royalty. I received a FREE eyebrow and lip wax, chair massage, and facial. YOU CAN NOT BEAT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My eyebrow and lip wax was a great experience. Gisell was really sweet and gentle. She talked to me during the entire process, telling me what she was using and why or what the benefits of it. I’m a talkative person, so I really appreciate the small talk during the service. Gisell really created an inviting and peaceful environment for the lip and eyebrow wax service. I plan on going back next month for a wax refresh.
The facial service was so gentle and relaxing. Peep the before and after pictures (above) from the Retinol Plus Peel facial. I’ve been had this facial before and I was excited to try it for the first time. The Skin ReMEDI Esthetician for this service was extremely nice. She talked me through everything she used and did to my face. I like to know the benefits and effects of the ingredients and products I put on my body, especially my face. This facial really gave my face a natural glow. My skin felt so hydrated and gentle. I expected my skin to peel over the next few days after this service. To my surprise I did not experience and peeling or irratations after the service. No breakouts, nothing. Just easy, breezy, beautiful glowing skin.
I recommend Natural Body Spa and Shop to EVERYONE…. There have several locations (in Bulkhead- GA, Alpharetta- GA, Decatur- GA, Marietta- GA, Smyrna-GA, Snellville-GA, Chattanooga- TN, and Jacksonville -FL).
Thank you to Jenn Cobbs, Gisell and all the staff for creating an inviting atmosphere and a successful event. I will be back for more bath burst and bombs and spa services.

As life starts to settle in on me, I am surrounded by family and friends that needs help planning birthdays, dinners, showers, engagements, weddings, etc. So I started my own little hustle.
I have always been crafty and creative. I learned how to sew as a little girl. I like making quilts and knitting. My talent also allows me to make the best decor and gifts for family and friends when it time to celebrate just about everything.
My favorite food is Hot Wings. I also love and eat plenty of Pizza Rolls, Pasta, and Red Velvet Cake.
I am a proud product junkie. I love skincare products, beauty stuff, travel size items, makeup and lip gloss and cute stationary. When I’m in a store and see something i like I can’t help myself. I have a storage shelve full of products I haven’t used yet or maybe used once or twice in my home.
I really enjoy traveling and hope to travel a lot more in my lifetime. This world is full of some many beautiful place and things and I want to see as much of it as I can while on this earth. So far, I have traveled to Australia, France, Mexico and Israel, and about 25 states.
I always prefer tea (hot or cold) over coffee. Something about coffee don’t ever settle well with my stomach.
My favorite artists are.. first and foremost BEYOND of course, then Tevin Campbell, Ella Mai and Cardi B.
I met her freshman year of college (Albany State University), we were assigned the same dorm hall. As sophomores, we held down the E-board for Pre-Alumni back in 2010 and begin a lifelong bond of good memories and fun times. Fast forward almost ten years she is excelling in her career, a Mom and a business owner. Behind very pretty picture there is a story and Robin painted her story into a business venue and motivational movement for Working Moms.

November 28th 2017 is the day I got powers that I never knew one could possess. It’s no way to ever be ready to bring life into this world. There are no books, no YouTube tutorials or no classes that can help you become 100% prepared for this motherhood thing.
My pregnancy was smooth sailing. (Thank God!) My doctors visits became boring because I already knew how everything would go lol except for one day I had fruity pebbles and a gas station slushy before heading to my appointment! As you could imagine my baby’s heartbeat was literally on 10! I was sent to another office to be strapped up to all of these machines to monitor his heartbeat. As I was being strapped up to the machines it hit me that I was no longer living for myself and every decision that I made from the day I found out I was pregnant until forever was no longer just for and about me. I was now responsible for another human. I couldn’t wake up and not want to go anymore. I couldn’t decide to take a day off and it truly be a day off.
After my son was born I was ready to get back to work. The timing was perfect. My 6 weeks was up right when my next project was starting! The week before starting back on Greenleaf season 3 as an extras castings assistant my boss called a company meeting to go over all of our shows and projects we booked for the year and when it was time for one on ones he expressed to me that he was nervous about me coming back to work with having a new baby. I couldn’t believe that after working for this guy for 3 years on numerous projects that he would now question my work ability because of my son. If anything it would make me work harder! I now have somebody that I have to provide for! Somebody that I cannot fail by any means necessary! I brushed it off in the meeting and just simply told him that I was more than ready to get back to work and he had nothing to worry about. My son’s dad has so much family that love our son that we would never have to worry about not having somebody to look after him. I felt that it was unfair that I would have to even express all of that to my boss so I didn’t. All he needed to know was that I could still be the hard working employee that I had been for the past 3 years.
After leaving that meeting I literally cried all the way to my sons grandmother’s house. I was just that upset! And that is how my brand “WORKING MOM” came about! Anger and motivation mixed together! The tag line “My Blessing Is Not A Burden” is exactly how I feel about my son! He won’t get in the way of me reaching my dreams and attaining my goals!
It’s very unfair that mothers get denied jobs and questioned about their abilities because of their children! It’s so much that I want to do with the brand “WORKING MOM”. The t-shirts just aren’t enough but it’s a start. My son will be one soon and I have been working the whole time he’s been here so I know what it is to be a “WORKING MOM”! It’s not easy! We need help and we won’t say we need help. I want to start a support group that meets up, not only just to express ourselves and tell our stories but to also plan trips, go out and dance, have play dates with the kids! All of that! I’ve learned when we begin to share our stories we see that it’s so many women that go through the same things and once we begin to share it feels so good to know you aren’t alone and listening actually helps!
My launch party for my brand “WORKING MOM” was in June! The support my friends and family showed was so overwhelming! I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I knew at that moment that I had something great! Something relatable and something necessary! My friends that weren’t even moms let alone women found a way to support me! My goal for “WORKING MOM” is to be a voice for all working moms! From Serena Williams to the First Lady at the church!
I’m currently working on a website for “WORKING MOM” that will have merchandise for sale and also will be a way to share advice and help for other working moms through events and meet up group sessions! It’s not easy so it won’t happen quick but it will happen!
I have to be honest this week has been a struggle. It seemed like the days were so long, the tie change has really been effecting me.
Day 11: Write a letter to yourself explaining why you are unique
I thought writing this letter was going to be easy. I mean I write all the time and I think highly of myself (so I thought). But as I tried to write this letter to myself I had writers block. My mind went blank, I couldn’t think of anything unique about me- well I questioned everything I thought of. I had to step away for a long shower then come back with a clear mind to do my letter to myself some justice.
Day 12: Have a phone free night
This was as challenging as I thought it would be. I am always on my phone and always on social media. I’m a blogger… Social media is my hobby. So, once I got in home work my home went on DND. I listen to music until I wanted to hear nothing but silence. Then silence got boring so I went to bed early. The next day I felt well rested and I didn’t even reach for my phone when I woke up. I don’t know about you but I normally fall asleep scrolling on social media and wake up to scrolling my notifications.
Day 13: Journal for 15 minutes
I journal on a day to day basis. Sometimes multiple times a day. I have to get my feeling and ideas out and on paper. So writing things down is my organization habit.
Day 14: Watch a Ted Talk
TED TALKS are my favorite!!!! One day I inspire to be a TED talk speakers, right now I don’t know what I would speak about – but I’m working towards it. For a little mid-day inspiration I watched, Get comfortable with being uncomfortable by Luvvie Ajayi.
Day 15: Make a gratitude list
I’ve never made a gratitude list before, so this was fun.
This weekend I took a much needed trip to the cabin with my college friends. We’ve been to Ellajay and Helen so many times that we wanted to try somewhere different. So, this year we went to Gatlinburg, TN. We take this trip every year and every year we make so many memories and build stronger bonds with one another. I’m so happy to have friends like them. The Smokey mountains were good to us. We stayed in a nice big three story cabin with a wrap around porch, hot tube, movie room
Of course we took a ton of photos…

Welcome Kayla Heard, Event Planner, Author and Passionista!
As a fellow Passionista, my biggest passion is me, Elegance. As a brand ambassador for myself, I spend time learning the new trends in my industry. Being a hospitality guru, I like to look into all aspects of the industry however events are my niche. As an entrepreneur, I’ve been in the industry for over 5 years and I’m loving it more and more by the day. The trends, the people, and the creativity involved in the hospitality industry are exciting. Detail, logistics, and the overall planning of things get me going.
Now I know I introduced Elegance in the beginning but there’s a method to my madness. My company is Experience Elegance Event Planning where we plan events and specialize in logistics. Experience Elegance is my baby. I birthed her at age 21 and she’s been my sole focus since. I’m passionate about curating events that go by flawlessly even when everything could be going wrong. I pride myself on breaking the myth that 90% of events always start late and when I say I pride myself I think about my brand as a whole. The flow, look, and creativity that are displayed in my services reflect not only my company, but my brand. My passion stems from me making sure my company thrives even when I don’t feel like it. Passion goes pass the financial satisfaction you’re trying to attain. As we know entrepreneurship gets tricky from time to time, but it has molded me into the so much of the woman I am today and I wouldn’t trade it for the work.
